
Peter Kiefer has joined The Hollywood Reporter as writer-at-large.
In his new role, which begins Tuesday, Feb. 4, Kiefer will cover Hollywood’s agencies and studios while also writing broader insider profiles and investigative pieces on the industry’s most influential personalities and institutions. He will also cover politics, real estate and other topics of relevance to THR’s growing readership.
Kiefer, who is based in Los Angeles, will report to THR co-editor-in-chief Maer Roshan.

Since 2022, Kiefer served as a staff writer at The Ankler. While there, he authored a string of blockbuster features. Among other stories, he broke the news that Grey’s Anatomy writer and producer Elisabeth Finch had been placed on administrative leave after it was revealed that she had fabricated large portions of her life story, including her cancer diagnosis. He later landed the first and only interview with Finch after she was fired from the show and banished from the industry.
Before joining The Ankler, he was a contributing editor at Los Angeles magazine and worked alongside Roshan, writing several of the most-read stories in the magazine’s long history, including a headline-making profile of notorious internet personality Yashar Ali. He previously spent four years as city editor of THR, covering politics, tech and other topics.
